Jazz Occurrence "Work in Progress" ACT I
Lewis Achenbach has been documenting the music scene in Chicagoland for the past 4 years. With charcoaled fingertips and paint on canvas, Lewis has been capturing the ‘frequency in the room’ imagining ‘sonido sólido’ (solid sound).
This discipline has become the Jazz Occurrence project, culminating in performances at the Aurora Public Art Commission (director Rena Church), the Fulton Street Collective, Instituto Cervantes, High Concept Labs (MANA Contemporary) and Constellation Chicago where Lewis produces and paints on canvases surrounded by the curated walls of his Jazz Occurrence Art Exhibition. World class musicians and artists have participated, such as Ari Brown, Cameron Pfiffner, Alison Brady, Jeff Schlanger (®musicWitness), Ayn Choi, Harrison Bankhead, Mars Williams, Vincent Davis, Douglas Ewart, Renee Baker, Katie Ernst, Coco Elysses, Preyas Roy, Russ Johnson, Chris Weller, Julia Miller, Elbio Barilari, Jim Baker, James Sanders and Avreeyal Ra among many others.

This Is Jazz Occurrence is also a documentary in progress (interviews, live footage and animations) and has journeyed into the Jazz Education realm with Elementary Jazz Occurrences teaching K-8 age children the joys and importance of improvising and painting to live music.
